4Ok, not bad but I do have better. Too small to work easily on a large knife. And so small easily lost. Get a very good sharpening stone. Probably cost more than the knife. Will take a while to get used to. But well worth the effort. Diamond sharpener is easy to carry around for emergencies.ian brown
